{"id":508,"date":"2021-05-31T11:14:37","date_gmt":"2021-05-31T11:14:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/myenterprisegroup.io\/gh-transitions\/?post_type=people&#038;p=508"},"modified":"2025-04-09T16:22:16","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T16:22:16","slug":"angela-ofori-atta","status":"publish","type":"people","link":"https:\/\/enelgreenengineering.com\/gh-transitions\/people\/angela-ofori-atta\/","title":{"rendered":"Prof. Angela Ofori-Atta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Prof. Angela Ofori-Atta is the chairperson of the Ghana Psychology Council,<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> a practicing<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Clinical Psychologist, researcher and teacher at the University of Ghana Medical School and former head of the Department of Psychiatry.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">She is an accomplished author of several research articles and a book on Trends in Mental Health Research in Ghana. She co-leads the MHealer Research on faith healing camps and the Escaping Poverty Randomized Control Trial where her cognitive behavioral intervention has been tested against conventional economic programs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Angela has previously held political office as a Deputy Minister for Manpower Development and Employment in the Kufuor administration and worked on political and activist campaigns including those of Liberian President Sirleaf\u2019s 2005 campaign, and to free Nigerian President Obasanjo from imprisonment under Abacha\u2019s government.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Angela holds a doctorate and masters in psychology from the University of British Columbia, where she was a Canadian commonwealth scholar, and\u00a0a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Zoology from the University of Ghana.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2018Prof Angie\u2019 hosts a weekly radio show \u2018Beautiful Minds\u2019, which seeks to build resilience in listeners and reduce the stigma of mental illness. She serves on the boards of The Enterprise Group and Databank, Accra College of Medicine and the Africa Leadership Initiative, West Africa (ALIWA). <span class=\"s3\">She has also founded and led volunteer efforts in the areas of HIV and Mental Health.
